Crystal palace tops SkySports power ranking

Sky Sports Power Rankings were the playing ground for Crystal Palace players this weekend after their much-fancied win. Dominating the power list, this penultimate week, their 2-1 win on Saturday over Stoke, had much to weigh-in on the popular power ranking list.

Palace Players All the Way

The top-rankers of the Power Raking has many of the key Crystal Palace players, with Wilfred Zaha heading it for the Fifth consecutive week. Runner-up was Patrick Van Aanholt, jumping over seven places all with a match-winning late net on Saturday.

Prior to the match, two other players from Palace moved ahead on the Ranking list. Ruben Loftus-Cheek jumped from 17th place to become player number 5. The player he assisted James McArthur too jumped from his 30th position to No.10 finishing together at the same sport with Xherdan Shaquiri, from Potters. The second spot is held by Alexandre Lacazette who jumped over 15 places.

But the highest upward movement has been for Pierre-Emerick who jumped a phenomenal 86 places to reach No.6. This massive jump is to his credit, a matching-winner at the Emirates where Arsenal Wenger’s was at his last match. The two players Lacazette and Emerick made it a memorable match for Wenger, with Lacazette scoring first and later assisting Aubameyang to net twice. He assisted Alex Iwobi to another net soon, leading the team to a 5-0 over Burnley.

Stepping down two places from No.4 was Dusan Tadic from Southampton, and at place 9 was Idrissa Gueye who was key to Tom Davies’ 96th – minute leveler.  Midfielder Jake Livermore had a dramatic time at the game, with a late winner against Spurs. For the midfielder, it was a last minute net, but enough to evade relegation again, for the last successive weekend. This means there is another week of hope for Livermore and his team.

Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois has been very busy moving 50 places to No.8 after made a second clean sheet with five saves and a 1-0 win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

How are the Rankings done?

The methodology used for player’s performance is in consideration for the previous last five Premier League matchdays, during which the points awarded for the different stats across 32 categories.

In this weeks updated, the top points are allotted for the club topping the score points. It is then accumulated across the season ranks. These Sky Sports Power Rankings are revised every week during the season. Other rankings list for the PL is also very popular with the PL Season Rankings and the PL in-form player ranking list.

Methodologies and rankings apart, the bottom-line for the season is that players in-form have a lot of talent to showcase, like the match-winning emotional last minute by Midfielder Jake Livermore which saved not only the match for the team but ensured they had another week playing Premier League.

On hindsight, the Power Rankings list is only a reiteration of the fans’ appreciation of their favorite players, the passion and sheer talent they display whether assisting or netting goals which get their team to the finals or otherwise. Crystal Palace did it last Sunday, and all of its players won the hearts of their fans, moving ahead in their positions on the list. This Sunday’s power list will be awaited.
