Hundreds of images and movies had been seized by the Division of Justice as a part of the investigation into former Michigan assistant soccer coach Matt Weiss, the Related Press stories. The seizure was revealed in court docket filings a part of a lawsuit towards Weiss and UM launched on Tuesday.
Weiss, a former co-offensive coordinator beneath Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, was indicted in March for allegedly hacking into the personal accounts of scholars and athletes across the nation to steal intimate pictures. The indictment alleges that he downloaded the knowledge of greater than 150,000 athletes and used it to hack into the social media, e-mail and cloud storage accounts of greater than 2,000, primarily feminine school athletes. His alleged crimes date again to a minimum of 2015.
“Hundreds of candid, intimate pictures and movies have been seized from the defendant’s digital gadgets and from his cloud storage accounts,” the Justice Division’s Mega Sufferer Case Help Program mentioned, in keeping with the AP. “Many present victimes bare. Some present victims engaged in specific sexual acts.”
Weiss faces 24 federal expenses: 14 counts of unauthorized entry to computer systems and 10 counts of aggravated identification theft. He plead not responsible to all of them. Weiss was suspended from Michigan in January 2023 when campus police launched their preliminary investigation, citing solely “pc crimes.”
Weiss spent 18 years teaching in school soccer and the NFL, all coming beneath brothers Jim and John Harbaugh. He labored for the Baltimore Ravens from 2009-20 earlier than leaving to hitch Jim Harbaugh as quarterbacks coach and later co-offensive coordinator at Michigan. Weiss served alongside Sherrone Moore, who took over as full offensive coordinator after Weiss’s firing in January 2023. Moore was later promoted to move coach after Harbaugh’s departure for the Los Angeles Chargers.
